Tinsley commits to Vandy

The Vanderbilt men's basketball team received great news tonight when 6'3'' guard Brad Tinsley verbally committed to Commodores, according to the great Brett Hait of The Nashville City Paper.

Tinsley, ranked by as the nation's 16th-best senior point guard, chose Vanderbilt over Wake Forest. He is the fourth member of the Dores' 2008 recruiting class, joining swingman Jeff Taylor, Steve Tchiengang and Lance Goulbourne, each of whom is ranked among the nation's top 150 senior prospects by ESPN.

Vanderbilt will most certainly have a top-25 recruiting class after this signing. Tinsley has the ability to play both guard positions and could possibly start alongside Jermaine Beal in the backcourt.

Check back here this weekend, as well as The City Paper, for more coverage. Thanks to Brett for breaking this story.

Wait a great recruiting year we have had. Stallings should be getting a boost in his salary if he has a good season next year.

Great news for Vandy all around today. Getting Tinsley is huge. I think he made a very good decision as well. Wake has a lot of young guards. He will get more early PT at Vandy.
Also of note, UT just dismissed Ramar Smith and Duke Crews from the team!!! That leaves Tyler Smith, Prince and Chism as the only returning players that got major minutes last year for them. The SEC is going to be full of very young teams next year. It is anyones title to win. Depends on who comes together as a team the best.

someone on the vandymania message boards made a really good point that goes forgotten most of the time. King Rice and the fellow assistants did a hell of a job this year. By in large, they do the meat of this recruiting work. They are making CKS look good, and he should buy Rice, Muller, Frederick, and Richardson a steak dinner.
