Wow. That block and on of those dimes...sick! Next Shan, maybe better, by the time he leaves Vandy. Looks like he has a better all around game than Shan but can still shoot lights out.
Shochat, perhaps this summer you can learn to become more of a realist. While I certainly appreciate your optimism, again, please think about what you are saying:
"Next Shan, maybe better, by the time he leaves Vandy."
Do you realize Shan Foster is arguably the greatest Vanderbilt player of all-time?
Goulbourne obviously looked great in the highlight reel and I couldn't be more excited to see him play, but hold off on the comparisons to the Truth.
haha as soon as I wrote that I knew you would have an issue with it Jarred. Let me clarify for you. If Lance stays all four years, I think he could have just as good of a career as Shan had. Who knows if he will stay that long or will be able to bring his skills in high school to college basketball, but from what I see in that video he has the potential to be as good as Shan after four years in the program and reminds me a lot of Shan. I remember back last fall when Vandy was still recruiting Lance that Jesse from rivals.com said on the rivals message boards that some in the program (coaches) said that Lance reminded them a lot of Shan, so I am not the first to make this comparison... Is Lance going to come in next year and be Shan? Hell no!!! He has the potential to be that good MAYBE better if he stays four years...
listen to yourselves and get back to me. You are all basically saying that Shan is the greatest player that Vandy has not only ever had BUT WILL EVER HAVE!!! I personally would take Byars any day of the week over Shan. I have tried to clarify and will say it again: I am not saying that Lance will come in next year and be Shan; I am not saying that for a fact Lance will have as good of a career as Shan; I am saying that from that video I see a lot of similarities to Shan and think that Lance has the POTENTIAL to be as good as Shan granted he stays in the program for four years. None of you can deny that Lance has POTENTIAL to be great.
fair enough. Only time will tell, but i felt like you guys were misinterpreting my comment. I know i was unclear in my original comment, but i thought i cleared up what i meant in my second one.
The fact of the matter is that Shan is a great player and had one of the best careers out of any Vandy player to have ever played at our beloved school. Shan was a great shooter, leader, and general person, but there were a few (not many) holes in his game let's not kid ourselves. We all would have liked for him to have been able to create his own shot off the dribble a bit more.
Some day, and I think sooner rather than later with the success that Stallings is having in recruiting, someone (not necessarily in this incoming class)will come in and have a better career than Shan.
Who is your favorite Vanderbilt athlete of recent memory?
ABOUT US
The Sports VU is run by Vanderbilt alum Jarred Amato (man, that's weird to type) and hopefully a few of his dispersed (or is it depressed?) friends.
The Sports VU no longer has unlimited access to players and coaches, but we plan to make up for that with our newfound wittiness and wealth of knowledge that comes from our alumni status (or at least that's what we're telling ourselves).
More likely, we're going to use this site to reminisce about our glorious days as undergrads when waking up before 11 was a challenge and worrying about the Dores' upcoming opponent was our biggest concern. So yeah, be sure to check back often to either console us (if you're old) or laugh at us (if you're young). Either way, it should be a good time. Have any questions or comments? Don't hesitate to e-mail me at jarred.amato@gmail.com. Thanks, and go Dores!

yeah, from the few minutes i saw i can conclude that he might be the greatest player we've ever had.
a better game than shan, based on a highlight video????
am i the only one who thinks ridiculous expectations are a bad thing?

You're right in asserting that Goulbourne has the potential to be great, but as Barge said, why put such high expectations on him or anyone?
I know you're excited, as we all are, but let's just wait and see.
